Who are we?

Amicus Property Finance is a specialist property lender offering short-term finance solutions to private and corporate borrowers across the UK and we are looking for Underwriters (at all stages of their careers) to join us at our lovely offices in Soho at the heart of London’s West End.

What is the overall purpose of the role?

As an Underwriter in our relaxed but professional and business focused culture you will be responsible for managing the complete bridge lending, refurbishment and development loans processes.

What are the key responsibilities of the role?

Client Delivery

  • Handling customer/broker contacts, updating applicants/brokers on case progress, explaining the rationale behind the decision to accept/decline their application.

  • Develop a rationale for cases and, where above your mandate, communicate findings to your manager and/or the Credit Committee for their consideration and approval.

  • Embracing principles of treating customers fairly and responsible lending in decision making.

Underwriting Processing

  • Processing, managing and monitoring a large pipeline of applications including data input and producing all written communication.

  • Making underwriting decisions as to whether applications proceed to offer, ensuring both internal and external expectations are managed appropriately.

  • Building successful working relationships with external/internal stakeholders ensuring all lending requirements are satisfied prior to release of funds.


  • Identifying any factors within a loan application that could impact a lending decision.

  • Analysing key items such as credit searches, bank statements, financial accounts, property valuations and business appraisals to support loan applications to enable decisions in line with Company policy.

Quality Assurance, Compliance and Regulation

  • Develop a full understanding of, and comply with, relevant compliance requirements, company policies, departmental procedures and our Quality Assurance Framework.

What kind of candidate profile will be suitable for the role?

To be successful in this role you will need to have a good understanding of, and proven underwriting track-record in, short term bridging finance plus strong customer focus, communication, organisational and relationship building skills. You will also need to actively display and understand the Amicus Values - Teamwork, Responsibility, Adaptability, Customer Focus and Knowledge.
